So, it's Liam's Birthday Month.
WOW.
In less than 3 weeks my bebe will be ONE YEAR OLD. A toddler. A no-longer-bebe-boy.
But before I fall out of my chair & render myself unable to complete this post let me get to what I came here to talk about :)
His Birthday Party. And the preparations of.
They are going really well, so far ;) I'm becoming QUITE obsessive about finding the PREFECT Happy FIRST Birthday cake plate. And I think I might have to concede to whatever power is blocking me from finding them.
I've got my orange, red & blue tin candle holders for outside. I've got my orange & blue plates/napkins/cups. I've got a blue Happy First Birthday banner. I've got a blue crown (!). I've got my orange favor bags that have to be embellished with my blue & red die cuts courtesy of my Sizzix Side Kick. [note to self - don't forget to make the 25 die cuts for the bags!]
But I cannot find the prefect cake plates. Matias could care less - or to quote him (to be fair) he's "not that concerned about it". My first choice would be something with the right colors (see above...) with Happy FIRST Birthday on it and nothing gay-ing it up. No teddy bears, no smiley faces, no nothing but possibly in JenLand Heaven a rocket ship. My second choice would be the above requirements for no gayness but minus the FIRST birthday part. Then the last choice is just plain plates. BLAH. I REALLY want something that says FIRST birthday but with nothing else on it (gay or otherwise) & I just CANNOT find it.
Google has failed me. And I really need to step away from the computer and STOP searching for "first birthday cake plates". And please, especially stop showing me the return for the stupid teddy bear gaying up my rocket ship that says FIRST BIRTHDAY. I am _thisclose_ to just covering up that little teddy bear.

So I'm really close to being ready for the party (I think.), I just have the die cuts to make to complete the Favor Bags...
Next up - what should Liam wear for his pictures AND his party.

You are so organized! I was pretty organized the 1st birthday besides photos. I never did those... I am always a day late and a dollar short when it comes to photos. Next baby - I plan to get this cool plan that a photographer in town offers where you get photos done at 3, 6, 9, & 12 months. BUT I digress on that topic.
I went through the SAME thing. I did not want anything cutesy with bears and I did not want anything too commercial. Have you checked Birthday Express?

I know the last one has dogs - I am not sure why little boys and dogs go together.

Okay, I am done. I totally love looking for this stuff. BTW, you might want to try putting in a less specific search topic like 1st birthday party, 1st birthday, or 1st birthday party supplies. Those seemed to turn up the most results.
I have to admit for the past two years I have totally obsessed over this stuff so I probably know more about then I should AND I can tell you the selection is slim. If you want orange and blue you may have to go with the plain stuff but if you are flexible, there are some decent choices WITHOUT BEARS or DOGS!
Can't wait to see photos of the celebration!
I ended up going with really cute plates with one balloon on it with Happy Birthday doodling in it with stripes along the bottom that match my Theme :) But thanks for taking the time out of your "post Retreat retreat" to help me out! *wink* P.S. Liam is having a Blast Off party - rocket ships (not shuttles!!) & moon landings since July 20th is the day man landed on the moon! Hence the desire for the non-gayed up rocket ship plates.
Oh I like Rocketships too! I SO wanted those barnyard animals the past two years - I fear I will never get them as next year he will want... trucks again. I bemoan these trucks but really would I prefer that he enjoyed the gayed up bears? Not really.
Oh yeah and if you will re-call, I have about ZERO will power when it comes to things I say I am not going to do any longer... I must try harder (double wink to that!)
The plates sound cute in a none gay way and I still cannot wait to see some photos of the big day!! ;)
