Yeah... my kid- he has always been a take off and run kind of person. He never even looks back to see how far or where we might be - he's given both Kevin and I heart attack about 50 times... SO we no longer let him walk without holding our hands or else we hold onto whatever limb he will allow us to - wrist, arm, shoulder or we just pick him up. Mr. Independent!
A Grannie's view: When 4 year old Gillian approaches a street corner, she (now) automatically slips her little hand into mine. That feels great - first the physical contact, but also the feeling of trust from the little one.
She hugs her parents alot, but I'm not really on the hug list, or at least, not on the automatic hug list. I'm happy with smiles.

For me by far the hugs just because (1) I am a lover of hugs and (2) he picks and chooses to hug while holding a hand is a requirement!
Ah...see we aren't at the "must hold our hand stage" yet so he picks & choses those times also [still]!

Does un-enforced hand-holding count? That would have to be my favorite, though I do love those hugs...
definitely hugs. best thing ever - as long as they come with a big wet kiss.
We have to be careful with the kisses because sometimes they involve little love bites :)
